i wouldn't wear khaki at all
i spent a year surrounded by desert
i really don't want to wear anything that makes me look like sand

Not to mention that it's just a bland and boring colour. He may not be a fashionista, but khaki and red just feels like retail worker and is totally not his thing. Besides, his gloves would clash hard. He's still not sure why she'd want to know what he's wearing though.
